St. Lucie County
The Islamorada Olympics is noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Islamorada Beer Company, 3200 St. Lucie Blvd., north of Fort Pierce. The games are life-size beer pong, dizzy bat, flip cup, Frisbee golf, cornhole and sack races. The event also features live music and food for sale. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The cost, which includes unlimited draft pours during the games, for a team of four is $30 in advance and $45 at the event. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County. The event is family friendly, but players must be ages 21 and older. A Celebration of Insects is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Heathcote Botanical Gardens, 210 Savannah Road, Fort Pierce. Kids can explore, collect, observe and release bugs in the gardens as they learn about Heathcote’s most common insects. Admission is free for kids ages 6-12, $8 for adults and $6 for ages 65 and older. Kids must be accompanied by adults. Registration is required by calling 772-464-4672. The second annual Family Community Fun Day with Restoring Hope Ministries is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Percy Peak Gym, 2902 Avenue D, Fort Pierce. Summer KidFest with “Shrek” starts at 10 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at The Majestic 11, 940 14th Lane, Vero Beach. The movie, which is rated PG and lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes, continues Monday through Thursday. Admission for kids is free while adults pay $2 or make donations. The Brews Cruise with Mash Monkeys Brewing Company is 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday at Capt Hiram’s Resort, 1580 U.S. 1, Sebastian. The fifth annual Miss Twisted Bikini Contest is 2-8 p.m. Saturday at The Twisted Tuna, 4290 S.E. Salerno Road, Port Salerno. The first round begins at 3 p.m., and the final round starts at 6 p.m. A hot dog eating contest begins at 4 p.m. with registration from 1-3 p.m. The event also includes live music, live radio broadcasts, drink specials, giveaways and vendors. The Nature Hike at Jonathan Dickinson State Park starts at 2 p.m. Friday at 16450 S.E. Federal Highway, Hobe Sound. Go for a leisurely stroll through scrubby flatwoods and river floodplain. Look for osprey, pileated woodpeckers and barred owls. The walk may go through muddy or wet terrain. The hike continues every Friday.
